Certain keys on non-English keyboards do not function correctly: On some non-English keyboards, certain keys do not work as expected. In other words, what appears when you press the key is not what is printed on the key. To fix this problem, remap any problem keys.

Microsoft XP Professional x64 Users: You need to install the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 x64. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=B44A0000-ACF8-4FA1-AFFB-40E78D788B00&displaylang=en

Sever passwords are not case sensitive.

If you're having problems connecting to other players while running a co-op campaign or a server: You need to open port 7777, and that should allow other players to connect.

Windows Vista Users: We recommend installing the Vista hotfix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105) which fixes virtual address space usage on Vista.

Hotfix for SLI customers running DirectX 10 applications: Please go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936710. This hotfix resolves occurrences of low frame rates on some DirectX 10 applications when SLI is enabled. Performance improvements will vary depending on the application and the graphics driver version.

D. Known Graphics Issues

Some issues with NVIDIA graphics cards cause the game to stop: To run the Unreal Tournament 3 Demo with certain NVIDIA cards, you must install the NVIDIA ForceWare 163.71 driver, or a later driver. To install the 163.71 or later driver, go to the www.nvidia.com/drivers website. If you do not install the 163.71 driver or a later driver, at some point the game might stop and your progress will be lost.

For other issues with NVIDIA graphics cards and Windows Vista, go to the www.nvidia.com/object/windows_vista_hotfixes.html website.

If you are experiencing meshes flickering with NVIDIA graphics cards and Windows Vista please reboot your machine – this is an NVIDIA driver issue.

Hotfixes for GeForce customers running Windows Vista: Please go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938194 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938979 - these hotfixes improve the compatibility and reliability of Windows Vista. It can be downloaded from this link or from Windows Update.

Some issues with NVIDIA 7900 graphics cards cause the game to stop: If users are getting crashes creating rendering resources (pixel shaders, index buffers, textures etc) on NVIDIA cards with low operating system memory (1Gb or less), follow these steps for a workaround:

1. If AVG anti-virus software is installed, it needs to be uninstalled. This program causes resource conflicts with drivers. Be sure to restart the system after removing AVG.

2. In UTGame/Config/UTEngine.ini, set bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True.

3. Run the game again.

Some issues with ATI graphics cards cause the game to stop: To run Unreal Tournament 3 for Radeon 9x00 cards, we recommend installing the ATI Catalyst driver revision 7.8 from the www.amd.com website. If you do not install the revision 7.8 driver from the website, at some point the game might stop and your progress will be lost. For newer cards we recommend installing ATI Catalyst driver revision 7.9.

Graphics Card Drivers and Manufacturers

Be sure that you have installed the latest driver for your graphics card. Many video issues will be resolved simply by updating your graphics card's drivers. The Unreal Tournament 3 Demo may not properly detect some older graphics cards because their video drivers are not DirectX 9.0c compliant. Contact your graphics card manufacturer for updated drivers, or install the latest reference drivers for your graphics card chipset. Note that many reference drivers are not supported by the chipset manufacturer. Listed below are some common graphics card manufacturer Web sites.

E. Known Hardware Issues

Some issues with AMD processors cause the game to stop: To run the Unreal Tournament 3 Demo with certain AMD processors, you must either install the AMD Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (x86 and x64 exe) 1.3.2.16 or get the latest driver for your brand of processor from the www.amd.com website. If you do not install this driver or the latest driver from the website, at some point the game will stop and your progress will be lost. The game installs this by default unless user opts not to.

F. General Audio Issues

Audio stops at game start in Windows Vista: When the game is started on certain computers running Windows Vista, the audio stops. To fix this problem, install the latest driver for your sound card.

Audio occasionally crashes on startup in Windows Vista: In case of audio/hardware/driver issues, please run the game with –nosound in the command line to determine if your audio drivers are causing the crash. If the game does not crash with the –nosound command, please upgrade your audio drivers.

The Unreal Tournament 3 Demo does not support more than 2 channel audio on cards without OpenAL drivers: The game only outputs 5.1 if the “Hardware OpenAL” checkbox is ticked and the sound card has OpenAL drivers.
