Supposedly because they incite to violence and they are "harmful to consumers' health”, the well-known games Counter Strike (one of the most known and played games on the planet) and his smaller “business colleague” EverQuest have been banned in Brazil.
The Brazilian federal court actually ordered this a while ago, in October 2007, but the law was only implemented this week.
The “Master Chief” in charge with this is the judge Carlos Alberto Simoes who also felt the urge to point out again the “evil” nature of this games by claiming that these games actually encourage “the subversion of public order, were an attack against the democratic state and the law and against public security”.
Aye, riiight... and taking away freedoms allowed in the rest of the world is indeed „very” democratic. I’m also very certain that the offspring of those responsible with this decision NEVER evah had fun playing FPS games and shooting around terrorists in Counter Strike.
