The Chinese site PC Online got lucky recently and got the chance to test, admire and stress a new exponent of the 9th nVidia series video card: the 9600GT. Yes, it’s a mid-range card and apparently it behaves very well. Dearest freshly obtained 8800 card owners, don’t cry (too much)!

For the gurus of 3d in you, I’ve some numbers you might be interested in:

GeForce 9600GT 512MB DDR3
The Chip is named G94 and it comes equipped with 64 unified stream processors, double the number of a 8600GT and half of a 8800GT
GPU (Core) speed: 650MHz
Shader Clock speed: 1625MHz
VRAM speed: 1800MHz
256bits architecture and 57,6 GB/sec memory bandwidth

Bottom line, if we’re looking at the results, the card offers double the performance of a 8600GT and gets really close to a 8800 card.
