GameSpy has published an interview with John Mulkey, Lead Designer at Monolith, about the sequel to F.E.A.R. named Project Origin.
GameSpy: For the fans who don't follow corporate movements, what's the relationship between Project Origin and F.E.A.R.?
John Mulkey: Project
Origin is the direct sequel to F.E.A.R. Vivendi Universal Games
actually owns the rights to the name F.E.A.R. but all the content,
characters, story and game play is controlled by Monolith.
GameSpy: Both
the Condemned and F.E.A.R./Project Origin series bear a distinct
Monolith "feel." Where does that come from? How is it fostered?
John Mulkey: I
guess it comes from the styles and personalities of the people here. We
are a collaborative and creative bunch who possess a strong love of
games, film and literature. When you put those people in a room
together -- cool stuff comes out.
GameSpy: What answers can fans expect from Project Origin?
John Mulkey:
I can't tell you the specifics because that would ruin all the fun,
but... (wringing my hands together and smiling an evil grin) we are
taking up the action about 30 minutes or so before the explosion at the
end of the first game. Everything runs from that point on as a direct
continuation of the first game. All the questions left over from the
first game will be explored and a ton of new questions posed.
