Ralf Marczinczik, Art Director - Piranha Bytes, has talked with the World of Players.de community about Piranha's new role-playing game. According to him, the game is set on a huge Volcanic Island and there will be a lot of stuff to discover. Word is:
1. You said that your budget for
the upcoming game is tight. Is there any way that the fans can do to
help you, I mean the studio, spear a few money? I mean, some voices,
for unimportant NPC can be voiced by fans. We have talented people
either at the german or the english sides of the WoG board. Some do
know their scripting very well, others do wonders in 3DS Max. So what
do you think? Good quality work free is hard to find in our days.
No- as I recall, I said that the timeframe is tight.
Thanks for your steady support. The team really would be what it is
without you amazing guys out there- and we are very much aware of that
fact.
At the moment we are fine- new team, new project, new publisher. Letīs see what happens...
2. Will the game have a demo released
prior to it's release? Or at least at the day of release? I really want
to see for myself how the game works and behaves. Will you let us
betatest the game when it is needed? I mean, making a subsctiption on
the game website where we can register and if you think we are the
right ones let us betatest.
There are no plans yet-I think everybody wantīs to be on the safe side
before they decide when to release a beta or demo. But it was discussed-
and we all are in favour to release a demo.
3. I am glad there won't be any horses
to ride in the game world. But have you considered having horses in the
game. Think of them as the sheep in Gothic II. Maby they can serve as
quest items (funny) or you could see them towing merchant charts
between settlements.
Yes- we discussed it- but ended up with a different set of features
that we think might be more fun than a hastily developed horsefighting.
4. If the world will be roughly bigger
that the one of Gothic where will the action be situated? You defenetly
won't use the magic barrier scenario right? Maby on an island because I
don't know how else.
No magic barrier- since we are set on an Island it is not necessary.
;-)
5. I don't expect the hero to be able
to shave himself after growing a beard, cut his hair or leave it long.
I don't even like those actions. What I want to see is that he needs
sleep (maby with dreams, what do you think), rest, food etc. He should
need to sleep (forced) at least once every 48 hours and if he doesn't
comply he should start to lose combat efectiveness and the sorts. The
same should be applied to resting and eating. What abour practicing
with diferent arts to become better. I mean, you go to a teacher and
speak to him about showing you how to pickpocket but you woulnd't
master it unless you really try and succeed in picipocketing a few
people.
The Player-Character ist still being developed as I write (allways a
long process)- and since he has to learn a lot, we might be able to
make you happy...
6. I for one would like to have more
lore books in the future game. It was a good thing to implement them in
Gothic and Gothic II (+ add-on) but in Gothic III I really missed them.
Any chance of putting them back in a future game? Maby expand them!? I
mean make them more diverse. Like a bestiary, songs and poems, parts of
novels, notes, testaments, you name it 'we have it' . And if you lack
inspiration ('It could happen!" - recognise the game quote?) we may be
able to help you. There is a Romanian sayin: "where there is one, there
is no power; where there are many, the power grows".
Itīs a matter of time, how much of this wonderful lore-books we can put in. But we too would like to see more...
